Trafford & Stockport College Group is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for all. Discover how we support students and staff through equity, trauma-informed practice, and community partnerships.
At Trafford and Stockport College Group, we believe that education should be accessible, welcoming, and inclusive for everyone. We are committed to creating a learning environment where every student feels valued, supported, and able to succeed, no matter their background or personal circumstances. Equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are not just policies for us — they are part of everyday life at our college. From flexible learning environments to dedicated wellbeing support, we take meaningful action to remove barriers to education.
Our dedication to trauma-informed and relational practices forms the golden thread that runs through all aspects of our work. We understand that each individual has unique experiences and challenges, and we approach these with empathy, respect, and a deep understanding of the impact trauma can have on learning and wellbeing. These principles guide how we engage with and support our students, staff, and the wider community, ensuring that everyone is treated with dignity and kindness.
Our award-winning Community College Kitchen is an example of how we remove barriers to opportunities. We provide students with:
So that no one has to face unnecessary hardship while studying.
Our students also have access to a range of opportunities that celebrate diversity and bring people together:
We encourage students to explore different perspectives, develop new skills, and contribute to a more inclusive society.
At Trafford & Stockport College Group, we are more than just a place to study or work – we are a community driven by purpose and powered by people. Everyone brings their own unique strengths and experiences, and we believe that by working together, we can create an environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and able to thrive.
We also empower students to have a voice in shaping their future. As the first college group in the UK to integrate voter registration into enrolment, we have helped more than 1,000 students register to vote, supporting them to take an active role in democracy. This approach is rooted in our belief in the importance of building relationships that enable students to understand their rights, engage with the world around them, and make informed decisions.
We are committed to shaping brilliant futures, not only for our students but also for our colleagues. Whether it’s through career development opportunities, strong industry connections, or a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, we ensure that everyone has the chance to grow, contribute, and make a real difference. Our trauma-informed approach also supports our staff, ensuring that they feel safe, supported, and empowered in their roles. When you’re a part of our team, you belong to something bigger.

Community College Collective (CCC)
We have formed a Further Education working group with Liverpool and Middlesborough Colleges, entitled the Community College Collective (CCC) – collaborating with leading researchers to demonstrate the impact of Attachment Aware, Trauma Informed and Relational Practice (AATIRP). Through the work of the CCC we aim to demonstrate the impact of AATIRP by supporting research to enable the embedding of this knowledge and practice across Further Education nationally.
