Student Enrichment is at the heart of college life across Trafford and Stockport College Group. From developing life skills to celebrating cultural identity and building community connections, our enrichment programme opens the door to meaningful, real-world opportunities for every learner. As the academic year draws to a close, we’re shining a light on just some of the activities that made this year so dynamic. From creative workshops and global festivals to financial literacy sessions and civic participation, it’s been a truly action-packed calendar!
Widen Our World Week and Muslim Arts and Cultural Festival
Students took a global journey without ever leaving campus during our vibrant Widen Our World Week and the Muslim Arts and Cultural Festival (MACFest). These events brought cultures together through food tastings, traditional dress, music, and expressive arts, creating a joyful celebration of the diversity that makes our college community so special.

Debate Club
Our Debate Club took their talents beyond the college gates by leading workshops with local primary and secondary schools. Focusing on confidence, critical thinking, and respectful discussion, students became peer mentors—helping younger learners express themselves and explore new perspectives. It was a great example of leadership in action and how student voice can inspire others.

Money Ready – Money Management Workshops
Financial literacy took centre stage this year thanks to our ongoing partnership with Money Ready. Through interactive Money Management Workshops, students gained essential skills such as understanding payslips, budgeting, and managing deductions. These sessions empowered learners to take control of their finances and approach life after college with more confidence and clarity.

Lunchtime Sports
Lunchtimes were transformed into lively hubs of activity through our popular Lunchtime Sports programme. Whether it was football, table tennis, basketball or quick cricket, students enjoyed a much-needed break, kept active, and built teamwork skills. More than just games, these sessions nurtured community spirit, boosted wellbeing, and created a positive college culture for all.

Student Voice in Action: Presenting to the Scrutiny Committee
This year, a group of our students had the prestigious opportunity to present at the Children and Families Scrutiny Committees for both Trafford and Stockport Councils. Speaking with poise and purpose, they raised key topics facing young people today and showed how youth perspectives can shape real change. Their engagement was praised by councillors and underlined the strength of student leadership within our college group.

Looking Ahead to the Next Academic Year
With such a successful year behind us, we’re already setting our sights on next year’s enrichment offer. Our mission remains to design a programme that complements classroom learning while encouraging personal development. Working closely with curriculum teams and listening to what students want, we’ll continue creating opportunities that build confidence, resilience, leadership, and workplace-ready skills.
