Recent Awards & Achievements 

Student Success and Skills Excellence 

  • AoC Runner Up Student of the Year 
    Marple Sixth Form College student Sharifah Aljafari has been named Runner-up in the prestigious AoC Student of the Year 2024 Awards, recognised in the Student Green Commitment category. Her dedication to sustainability has sparked awareness and inspired real action across the college community. 
     
  • WorldSkills UK is the UK’s leading programme for celebrating excellence in technical and vocational education.

    Trafford & Stockport College Group has proudly hosted the National Finals in 2023 and 2024, helping deliver a world-class event across Greater Manchester. 

    In 2024, six students represented the Group: 

    • Erin Carpenter – Bronze in Beauty Therapy Practitioner 
    • Adam Montgomery – Highly Commended in Foundation Skills – Restaurant Service 
    • Olivia Shore, Amy Louise Chisnall, Nathan Williams, and Mille Alderton – all recognised as national finalists for their exceptional talent and dedication. 
       
  • GM Skills Awards 
    Trafford and Stockport College Group was shortlisted for three honours at the GM Skills Awards 2025: Large Employer of the Year, Partnership Project of the Year, and Team of the Year.

Colleague Recognition

Educate North Awards

Graham Luccock, Chair of the Corporation, has been Highly Commended in the Leadership and Innovation Award category at this year’s Educate North Awards. Graham’s commendation stands as a testament to over two decades of dedicated service, transformative leadership, and his unwavering commitment to improving lives through education.

Apprenticeship Awards

TSCG’s Construction Apprenticeship team celebrated double success in 2024. Jason Gallagher, Apprenticeship Leader for Construction and Sustainability, was named Construction Apprenticeship Champion of the Year at the EPA Awards, recognising his leadership and commitment to skills excellence. The wider construction team was also honoured at the TSCG Apprentice & Employer Awards, showcasing their impact in delivering high-quality, industry-aligned training and employer partnerships.

Group Achievements 

Belong Initiative – Alex Timpson ARC Award 2025 
TSCG was named Post-16 Regional Winner of the Alex Timpson ARC Award 2025, recognising our trauma-informed Belong strategy and its impact on creating inclusive, supportive learning environments. Read the article ‘Belong initiative earns regional recognition’
 

Educate North Awards – Community Engagement Winner 

TSCG won the 2024 Educate North Community Engagement Award for its Empowering Communities: Bridging Gaps and Building Futures initiative. 

This recognised impactful work including the Community College Kitchen, Welcome Wednesday with Age UK, and partnerships with over 50 voluntary organisations — all designed to support students and strengthen local communities. You can read the full news article about the Educate North Award Win
 

Ofsted Inspection 

Trafford and Stockport College Group was rated ‘Good’ overall in its Ofsted inspection (November 2022). The report highlights a highly inclusive and supportive learning environment, where learners and apprentices feel safe, respected, and motivated.

Results & Performance 

National Student Survey (NSS) 2025 – Outstanding Results 

TSCG achieved exceptional results in the 2025 NSS, with a 97% response rate – well above the national average of 71%. Students rated their experience significantly above national benchmarks across key areas: 

  • 92.6% satisfaction with teaching on their course (vs. 86.9% nationally) 
  • 94.7% satisfaction with assessment and feedback (vs. 81.2%) 
  • 88.2% satisfaction on student voice measures (vs. 77.6%) 

These results reflect our commitment to high-quality teaching, responsive support, and inclusive learning environments. 

Accreditations & Quality Marks 

Trafford & Stockport College Group is proud to hold a range of nationally recognised accreditations that reflect our commitment to quality, safety, and inclusion across all areas of provision. These marks of excellence demonstrate our dedication to supporting learners, safeguarding wellbeing, and delivering outstanding guidance and support. 

Some current accreditations include: 

  • Matrix Standard Accreditation – awarded for excellence in the delivery of information, advice and guidance (IAG) services. 
  • Leaders in Safeguarding – for robust safeguarding practices and a culture of safety and care. 
  • Care Leaver Accreditation – recognising our inclusive support for care-experienced learners.
