Celebrating excellence at inspiring Student Awards 2025

Trafford and Stockport College Group honoured outstanding students in a night of pride and recognition at the National Football Museum.

The Student Awards 2025 brought together an inspiring mix of ambition, achievement and community spirit as 47 students from across all five campuses were celebrated for their outstanding contributions.

The celebration, attended by students, staff, families, and local employers, was hosted by Alan Keegan, known to many as the ‘Voice of Old Trafford’, and featured live music, student highlights, and speeches from Group Principal Carmen Gonzalez-Eslava and student speaker Aisha Shabbir.

“Our students represent the very best of what education can achieve,” said Carmen. “Whether through academic success, technical excellence, creative talent, or contribution to college life, each finalist has made a lasting impact.”

Some of the evening’s outstanding success stories:

  • Favour Olujim, from the Altrincham campus received the Inclusivity Award for excelling in class while actively supporting and inspiring those around them.
  • Deputy Student governor Jaisha Nehal, from the Stretford campus was named Campus Student of the Year for her outstanding leadership, contributions to social media campaigns, and active involvement in Green Week and college events.
  • At Stockport CollegeJack Smith, a Level 2 Carpentry and Joinery apprentice, earned the Resilience Award for overcoming the challenges of dyslexia and colour blindness to excel in his trade and support newer apprentices.
  • Cheadle College celebrated Zion Eze with the Ambitious Award after he improved his mock exam grade from an E to an A, which was a remarkable academic transformation driven by persistence and hard work.
  • From Marple CollegeLewis Maddocks took home the Campus Student of the Year title, praised for his leadership in sport, top academic results, and efforts to support and motivate his peers.

A particular highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Overall Student of the Year Award to Miracle Mbokela, who impressed with his leadership as deputy governor and his confidence in hosting the college’s Student Conference.
