What We Do
At Trafford and Stockport College Group (TSCG), we believe the student experience is about so much more than qualifications alone. Our priority is to deliver an exceptional student experience, striving to be the college of choice for students’ personal and professional development – ensuring they are equipped with the skills, attitudes and behaviours to succeed in life and work.
At TSCG, our courses are designed to support student progression into higher learning and ultimately into successful careers. Throughout their time with us students receive access to high-quality careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG).
Our CEIAG is delivered through our Careers Programme, which is aligned to the eight Gatsby Benchmarks – a framework used to ensure high quality careers guidance in education settings. Gatsby Benchmarks Explained
Our Careers Programme includes dedicated 1-1 and whole group guidance sessions. These provide students with the confidence in their choice of subjects and that their career pathway is right for them whist also outlining the variety of careers associated with their course.
In addition to careers guidance, all young people studying at TSCG have an entitlement to access work related learning opportunities alongside their qualification to support the development of the skills, attitudes and behaviours employers say are critical for success in the workplace. These opportunities include structured work placements, employer-set projects, industry visits and employer masterclasses. Our aim is to have “employers in every classroom” to enrich the experience of students and to inspire them onto those all-important next steps.
In addition to careers guidance, all young people studying at TSCG are entitled to work-related learning alongside their qualification to develop the skills, attitudes, and behaviours employers value. This includes structured placements, employer-set projects, industry visits, and masterclasses. Our vision is to have “employers in every classroom” to enrich learning and inspire students towards their next steps.
Our qualifications are complemented by enrichment opportunities to enhance students’ cultural and social capital to support their personal growth. Our inclusive enrichment offer is designed to break down barriers to opportunity and is aligned to the Association of College’s nine dimensions as identified in their “Valuing Enrichment” report. Our offer includes subject based enrichment through trips, visits and masterclasses from experts to “bring the curriculum alive”. In addition, there is a whole range of extra-curricular activities that students can get involved in to develop new skills, support physical and mental wellbeing and make new friends.
We work directly with the communities we serve and connect with local trusted partners to support “pride of place” and develop student character. Working with our local VCSFE sectors ensures are students can become active citizens as part of their local community and are familiar from a social and societal standpoint of the difference they can make. Enrichment includes activities that support intergenerational respect, advocacy and leadership skills.
We provide a range of activities which support the development physical health and mental wellbeing. This includes college sports teams and lunchtime sports enrichment. We also work in partnership with Stockport County FC who deliver the highly popular “Get Active” programme.
In 2025 our Trafford College Football Team won the league title with an unbeaten season, scoring 67 goals and finishing 18 points ahead of second place. Their dominant performances and strong teamwork were praised as a reflection of the college’s thriving sports programme. You can read the article over on the Trafford College website.

Each half-term, the students publish their own newsletter – College Extra – written by students for students. This expression of student life is a unique platform for our students to address the college community: sharing their views, expressing their interests and driving step change where they want to see it. The College Extra newsletter is produced and edited by our Equalities Council.
